VICTORIA – B.C New Democrat leader John Horganand Bruce Ralston, the New Democrat spokesperson for multiculturalism, issued the following statement in recognition of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day:

“Today on Yom HaShoah we join and remember with Jewish communities in British Columbia and around the world in remembering the millions of innocent men, women and children murdered during one of the most terrible periods of human history.

“This is a time of deep contemplation as we reflect with sincere sadness the terrible loss of six million Jewish lives, Roma, members of the gay community and other groups who perished in the genocide.

“As we mourn those whose lives were taken in the Holocaust, we honour the survivors and their families who have worked to rebuild their lives in new communities around the world and see their descendants prosper.

“Yom HaShoah reminds us that the crimes of intolerance, racism and hatred of any kind must never be repeated .”
